Got'v -> Private -> Academic

Trying to find that meteorology job that utilizes my education. Tough with no experience. Been filling out applications with the federal government in over 14 states! Recently moved to applying to private sector. Private sector, just as the government, wants people with experience. I am now considering going into the academic field with my degree. Technically I am qualified to teach middle school science and I know at least two people who have gone down that route and seem to enjoy it. Would I be a good teacher though?

La reforma laboral se cobra en Andalucía 12.538 p

En el mes de marzo, el paro registrado en los Servicios Públicos de Empleo ha sido de 1.057.144 personas, 12.538 más que el mes anterior, lo que supone un aumento del 1,20%.

 Los efectos de la reforma laboral sobre el empleo no han tardado en hacerse notar: desde su entrada en vigor el pasado 12 de febrero de 2012.
Parece ser que los empresarios han acogido y están aplicando las nuevas facilidades de despido que otorga la reforma laboral con "bastante entusiasmo". En el corto periodo de vida de esta norma se ha perdido 8 veces más empleo que en el mismo periodo del año anterior y 31 veces más que en el mismo periodo de 2009. El pasado mes supone, en términos de empleo, el peor febrero desde el comienzo de la crisis.

Se cumple la ampliación de la operatoria de vuelos semanales a San LuisEl ministro de Industria, Comercio, Minería y Transporte, Walter Padula, recordó que San Luis ya cuenta con un nuevo y amplio sistema de vuelos que duplica la cantidad anterior y que unen la provincia con Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (CABA).“Desde el domingo 1 de abril ya están en funcionamiento los vuelos de Aerolíneas Argentinas, cubriendo los 7 días de la semana y desde el 2 de abril la empresa Sol también está cubriendo la provincia con cuatro vuelos a San Luis y uno de ellos con destino a Villa Mercedes”, explicó Padula.En detalle, por un lado, Aerolíneas Argentinas pasó de cuatro a siete vuelos semanales, es decir, uno por día. Conocer la fosa de las Marianas "es más dif�

Fosa de las Marinas en un mapaEl investigador del Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO) Juan Acosta señalaba esta semana que conocer "lo más elemental" de la fosa de las Marianas, donde ha llegado el cineasta estadounidense James Cameron, "es más difícil que poner a un hombre en la Luna".

Este geólogo marino del IEO explicaba que la fosa de las Marianas, situada en el entorno de la isla de Guam, en el sur del Pacífico, tiene una profundidad de más de 11.000 metros; "es el punto más bajo de la Tierra", ha remachado. Acosta, que puntualizaba que la tecnología que se debe utilizar para bajar a este lugar es "muy complicada", detalló que sobre esta fosa se conoce muy poco: "Es un mar incógnito".
Entre las cosas que se conocen, la profundidad, "y no muy bien", porque para medir a 11 kilómetros se necesitan otros parámetros como la velocidad del sonido. "Incluso conocer lo más elemental de ahí es más difícil que poner un hombre en la Luna, y ya no digamos bajar con un submarino tripulado, investigar o hacer fotografías. Es un hito relevante", aseveró el investigador del Instituto Español de Oceanografía.Acosta apuntó que se trata además de un lugar con el ambiente "más extremo" que puede darse en la Tierra: alta presión, oscuridad total y bajísimas temperaturas del agua. Este científico, que dijo que ya se tiene conocimiento de la existencia de algunos peces, explicó asimismo que la alimentación en la fosa de las Marianas tiene que ser mínima: "se alimentan de nieve marina, lo que cae de la materia orgánica". En cuanto a la expedición de Cameron, Acosta manifestó que le da pena que no sea una institución científica la que tenga los recursos para bajar al punto más profundo del océano.No obstante, se mostró convencido de que el cineasta, si obtiene muestras o datos, se las hará llegar a la comunidad científica.

Skaledale Buildings from Hornby

Well we are nearly a quarter-way through the year and I have made my first purchase of the year.Hornby Skaledale do a great range of model buildings for the railway enthusiast but you can also use some of these for your war gaming tables. I have seen the new range of derelict farm buildings that will do for my Napoleonic battle fields and at the weekend I went along to the toy shop and brought two of the four models available and made a bit of a saving on them.
First up was the farm barn (R9647). This has one of its double doors open and two windows on one side. The other windows on the other side of the barn are boarded up.The model is well made and painted to a high standard as it would be from Hornby. The windows are great for my little 20mm Airfix/Hat figures as they could use the windows to shoot from.
Also I brought the farm outhouse (R9649) and again it looked great, but a little too small when you stood it by the barn. And like the barn, some of the windows are left open, but when I stood an Airfix figure against it, it was almost looking into the top window.Still there are two more bits to go along with the theme, the derelict farm house and stables. These look okay in their proportions to my little men and I hope to get these when I go shopping again in April. I made a little saving on these two buildings. The RRP for the two is just over £35 in Modelzone, I managed to pick both up for just under £31. Bargain!

Code Red ...

     Bob was running full speed up the 4 flights of stairs from the security office to the ER.  It was amazing how adrenaline would push anyone farther and faster.  Bob was past his prime as far as fitness goes.  He turned the corner into the ER with a purpose as the the staff wondered what the rush was.

     Bob was about to have a heart attack and bent over to catch his breath.  One of the RNs came running over and helped him to a chair.  "What's wrong Bob? What the heck are you killing yourself over?"

     Bob looked up and said "Where is the off-duty officer? The morgue has something bad going down."

     The off-duty officer walked over to Bob and glanced down.  It was not like Bob to get overly excited.  "What's going on Bob? Why the rush up here?"

     Bob took a deep breath and shot off the phone conversation he had with Nathan.  The off-duty officer looked around and saw the nursing staff huddled around listening to the story.  He glanced over to the unit secretary. "Mary, call the off-duty sergeant and advise him I want him to come out here so I can tell him what's going on.  Meanwhile I am gonna go with Bob and check on Nathan.  I know how his coffee gets the best of him at times."  The sly comment caused some to chuckle and others to smirk.  A little humor goes a long way.

      Bob let the officer walk ahead of him as they walked fast in the direction of the morgue.  Bob was unarmed and only had a small Motorola radio so he felt more comfortable with the police officer in front of him.  The elevators were a tad slower than taking the stairs.  The off-duty officer felt Bob needed a couple of minutes to recover from his earlier sprint.
