Quick Notes: Soundgarden, Wild Flag, Refused + Mor

*[theprp.com] Soundgarden‘s new single “Live To Rise” has leaked out online and can be streamed in full via KISW.com [EIS note: as well as an on air interview with Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron]. The track appears on the upcoming soundtrack to “The Avengers“, and will see a release on May 01st.

*[pitchfork.com] Wild Flag are currently on a long tour, during which they've gained a reputation for encoring with a number of awesome covers. On Saturday night in Boston, they snarled through a terrific version of Fugazi's "Margin Walker", from their 1989 EP of the same name. Check it out below, via TwentyFourBit.

It was also recently announced that the band's co-frontwoman Carrie Brownstein is set to publish a memoir. And her appearance on Marc Maron's WTF podcast is well worth hearing.

The power consumption with no load and batteries at 100% charged is 1.25 Amps. With my IMac plugged in the consumption is at 2.4 Amps. I've owned several APC units before and the no-load current for the trickle charger was about 0.2 Amps. Answers from APC were responsive but unclear as to why this inefficient unit was designed to consume 130 watts with no useful work being done. Also, the fan runs most of the time even though the battery indicator on the display show the charge is at 100% which would seem to make cooling unnecessary. Sharp 800-Watt 4/5-Cubic-Foot Compact Microwave Re

(More customer reviews)I bought this Microwave to replace an older Sharp model. I have had very good luck with Sharp Microwaves and this new one is no different. It's a very good compact microwave for one or two people. It was very easy to set the clock and use right out of the box. I love the look of it. The buttons are very simple to use. I don't use my microwave for cooking that much, I use it mostly for reheating and defrosting. I am a single mom with one teenage son who never eats at the same time as I do so it comes in very handy. I do sometimes cook bacon and pototoes in it. It makes great baked potatoes. It you have more than two people in your family you might want to get a larger oven. I have been using Sharp microwaves for many, many years, they make a great product. I highly recommend this model and all Sharps for that matter.

Church of Misery and Dogmatist- Loppen, Christiani

 Ialmost did not go to this show but I had a great time. I hung out with myfriend Nils and the guys in Church of Misery for a few hours. Such nice people.Tom, the Australian guitar player is going to move to Sweden soon so that isgreat news. I spoke a lot to him and his Swedish girlfriend. Super cool people.There was a very good crowd of over 100 people on this night, quite a few morethan at the Aron’s headband and Träd Gräs och Stenar show.
          Ayoung Danish thrash punk band called Dogmatist opened the show with blisteringspeed, racing through like 8 or 9 songs in 20mins. Only for the last song didthey slow down so they had a sort of groove the rest were just super-fast, intense,screaming vocal, powerful songs that all sounded nearly exactly the same. Peopleseem to dig them.

          Churchof Misery had to change out all the gear and do some line checks so this took abit of time but people were hungry to see them and packed the front of thestage. Tom said that Loppen was one of his favourite, if not his favourite venuein the world to play. Cool. Anyway, the band were in a great mood and played apowerful killer concert sticking to mostly the same stuff they have beenplaying for the last couple of years with only Sick of Living being a bit of asurprise. The rest of the set was more or less the live at Roadburn record. Tomwas playing some killer guitar and Nils and I had nicely asked them to play ForMad man only, the May Blitz cover that they did such a great version of andthey did in a killer 15 min totally jammed out version. I had not seen themplay like that since 2006! They really seem to enjoy the jam a lot as well so maybethey will do a bit more of this on the rest of the tour. Great night… check outthe videos!

I've listened to Damien Jurado for a number of years now, absolutely loving some of his records and liking all of them.  This one seems a little...different.  It has a strong western vibe to it, as if the boys from Calexico helped produce it.  I feel like I should be wandering amongst giant cacti while listening.  I often get bothered when favorite artists tweak or change their sounds, but I was taken with this record right away, and not just because it's different.  It's still largely the same Jurado you expect - mellow, somber folk songs with occasional rock moments, only this time out there is a little bit of fancy decoration on the package.  Certainly, long time fans like myself will find plenty to love here.  
As a side note, this man is responsible for one of my all-time favorite songs by any artist, ever: "Ohio" from the album "Rehearsals For Departure."  If you don't know it, seek it out.  Your life will be better for it.

This is the music video that I have created for my A2 coursework, however there is a problem with the cross-dissolves as on Final Cut Pro they appear and run smoothly yet when they have been converted, they appear as black flashes. The problem is being looked into.
