Why Microsoft shouldn't make cars
At a recent computer expo, Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated: "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving twenty-five dollar cars that got 1000 miles to the gallon."
In response to Bill's comments/General Motors issued a press release stating the following: "If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would be driving cars with the following characteristics:
1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.
2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road, you would have to buy a new car.
3. Occasionally, your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and you would accept this, restart, and drive on.
4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart;in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5. Only one person at a time could use the car, unless you bought 'Car95' or 'CarNT.' Then you would have to buymore seats.
6. Macintosh would make a car that's powered by the sun, more reliable, five times as fast, and twice as easy to drive, but would only run on five percent of the roads.
7. The oil, water, temperature and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single 'general car fault' warning light.
8. New seats would force everyone to have the same butt size.
9. The airbag system would say 'Are you sure?' before going off.
10. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.
11. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of Rand McNally road maps, even though they neither need them nor want them. Attempting to delete this option would immediately cause the car's performance to diminish by 50 per cent or more.
12. Every time GM introduced a new model, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
13. You'd press the 'Start' button to shut off the engine.

Authorisations to interfere with property under Police Act 1997
Authorisations to interfere with property etc
(1) Where subsection (2) applies, an authorising officer may authorise—
(a) the taking of such action, in respect of such property in the relevant area, as he may specify, or
(b) the taking of such action in the relevant area as he may specify, in respect of wireless telegraphy.
(2) This subsection applies where the authorising officer believes—
(a) that it is necessary for the action specified to be taken on the ground that it is likely to be of substantial value in the prevention or detection of serious crime, and
(b) that what the action seeks to achieve cannot reasonably be achieved by other means.
(3) An authorising officer shall not give an authorisation under this section except on an application made—
(a) if the authorising officer is within subsection (5)(a) to (e), by a member of his police force,
(b) if the authorising officer is within subsection (5)(f), by a member of the National Criminal Intelligence Service,
(c) if the authorising officer is within subsection (5)(g), by a member of the National Crime Squad, or
(d) if the authorising officer is within subsection (5)(h), by a customs officer.
(4) For the purposes of subsection (2), conduct which constitutes one or more offences shall be regarded as serious crime if, and only if,—
(a) it involves the use of violence, results in substantial financial gain or is conduct by a large number of persons in pursuit of a common purpose, or
(b) the offence or one of the offences is an offence for which a person who has attained the age of twenty-one and has no previous convictions could reasonably be expected to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of three years or more,
and, where the authorising officer is within subsection (5)(h), it relates to an assigned matter within the meaning of section 1(1) of the [1979 c. 2.] Customs and Excise Management Act 1979.

De repente, assim do nada, entra em minha caixa uma mensagem da Microsoft informando que o Internet Explorer 8 entra na versão RC (Release Candidate) e já em português.

DARRER DIA DE CLASSE

Avui és el darrer dia. Espero que hagueu après moltes coses noves relacionades amb els fulls de càlcul. Com ja haureu vist, els fulls de càlcul són molt útils especialment per fer números, però també per gestionar dades.

Principalment hem utilitzat el Microsoft Excel degut a què és un molt bon programa. Ara bé. Els fulls de càlcul de Google docs ofereixen eines fenomenals per poder treballar online. Les perspectives de creixement dels fulls Google docs són elevadísimes i no hem pogut fer de menys que utilitzar-lo durant les darreres classes.

Avui per acabar tenim previst fer una factura online i publicar-la com a pàgina web. AQUESTA és la factura proposada. Espero que hagueu xalat molt.

• Is this really where I wanted to be in 2009?• How fast do I want to change?• How do I change what I want to change?• How do I take charge?Our world, loves, and our work environments, at every level, change all the time, so you must change with it in order to succeed. We can’t just think about immediate goals either—you must have both short-term and long-term goals to ensure you are growing as each goal is achieved. If we break down each of our questions, and follow-through on them, you will start to see differences through change—change you developed all by yourself.Is this really where I wanted to be in 2009?Most of us will answer no to this, so what we need to do is take a time-out and figure out where we are, what we did, what we didn’t do, and how we can change. This is the time to question yourself, and indeed, take ample time to really look hard and long at what is working in your life and what is not. Look at each aspect of your life and break everything down into a question. Next, ask yourself if that part of your life is working, if it is—great. If it’s not, write down why it isn’t working. Remember, when questioning yourself, don’t worry about setting new visions and goals quite yet; just get a good list going. Once you have that, let’s look at the feasibility of the things you want to change.How fast do I want to change?Why is this even important you might ask?
