Talz Tales in Star Wars: The Clone Wars
I have a confession to make. I have been enjoying Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It may not be high art, but it reminds me of the kind of stories you would see in a Star Wars game brought to the small screen. At least that is what it does for me normally. However, I felt that Trespass, the most recent episode, was not very good. FYI... my commentary below has a ton of spoilers, so don't read it if you haven't watched the episode yet. The story starts simply enough. For reasons never fully explained the Republic placed a Clone Trooper base on an uninhabited ice planet. They lose contact with this base, so they decide to send a group consisting of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3P0, R2-D2, a bunch of Storm Clone Troopers, and two politicians from a nearby planet, who I will call Chairman Homicidal and Senator Jailbait. They arrive at the base to find it deserted, with the exception of Clone Trooper helmets on spears. Chairman homicidal immediately decides it must be the work of those wacky Separatists. Were the spears the tip off? In any case, they travel to the nearby Seperatist base, who apparently also love uninhabited ice planets, only to find the head of droids on pikes as well. Eventually, it is discovered that the stone cold killers known as the Talz are responsible. Apparently trained Storm Clone Troopers and Battle Droids are no match for primitive aliens chucking flint tipped spears. Although, to be fair, decades later Storm Troopers fair no better against Ewoks. Obi-Wan and Anakin go to speak with the Talz, and eventually receive their demands. Well, one demand actually: "Leave or we kill you". When this is reported back to Chairman Homicidal, he immediately decides to commit genocide. Fortunately, Chairman Homicidal is pretty ineffective at wiping out the primitive Talz. Taking some Storm Clone Troopers out on military speeders, the kind with shields and blaster cannons, they manage to get ambushed. They then stop the bikes and engage the spear-wielding Talz with their blaster pistols. Unfortunately for them, the Talz spears cut through Storm Clone Trooper armor like a knife through butter and Chairman Homicidal is fatally wounded. Obi-Wan urges Senator Jailbait to make peace with the Talz, which is all she has wanted to do all along. She then concedes to the Talz demands to leave the planet forever, and Obi-Wan praises her skill as a negotiator. The End. I know Star Wars often has plot holes you can drive a truck through, but it was seriously bad this episode. The ice planet is a complete MacGuffin, and a bad one at that. Everyone is fighting over the planet, but there seem to be no consequences for leaving it. Similarly, Chairman Homicidal's evilness and Senator Jailbait's innocence are comically overdone. Oh well. Hopefully the next episode will be better.

Product DescriptionStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic takes you into the distant past of the Star Wars universe -- over 4,000 years before Episode I, when battles raged between the Jedi and the Sith! Amazon.com Review Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic takes place just a few years after the Mandolorian Wars, thousands of years before the events in the Star Wars movies we know and love. Two Jedi, master Revan and his apprentice Malak, led the Republic's forces to victory and pursued the Mandalorians into deep space only to return as Dark Jedi at the head of a huge fleet of Sith warships. Only the Force powers of the Jedi Bastila prevented the Sith from overwhelming the Republic's weakened forces. At the start of the game Malak has usurped control of the Sith by betraying Revan and has attacked the ship carrying Bastila and yourself. In true Star Wars style, the game begins with a bang. The storyline could have been a standard coming-of-age yarn but is instead a genuinely interesting adventure told with humor, compassion, and respect for the source material. Your character has a mystical bond with Bastila, and the two of you share some kind of connection to the Sith villains Darth Malak and Darth Revan. The game's planet-hopping adventures are driven by your exploration of these connections and how they relate to your larger goal of discovering the source of the Sith's sudden fleet. During your adventure you can explore side quests minor (such as racing swoops or gambling) and major (such as uncovering the fascinating back stories of your companions). Star Wars fans will get a kick out of the rich lore introduced in the game, particularly the Tatooine storyline that reveals the origin and history of the Sand People. Gameplay is an abbreviated form of Wizards of the Coast's d20 Star Wars RPG game system--anyone who has played Dungeons & Dragons will be familiar with the abilities, stats, feats, and bonuses in this game. The player creates a character as a member of one of three starting classes (soldier, smuggler, scout) and then later chooses a Jedi class (guardian, consular, sentinel). Joining the player's character are other Jedi, warriors, thieves, droids, a wookiee, and even a Mandolorian. Unlike the faceless non-player characters of other games, each member of the supporting cast has an intriguing history and even agenda. Up to two of these other characters can join your character at any time. Depending on who you chose to take with you, new dialogue and even intra-party arguments come into the game (put the Mandalorian veteran with the Republic patriot and you'll see sparks fly). Combat is real-time turn-based, meaning the turns are seamless but the player has the option of pausing the action at any time to issue orders or direct any character to use a certain Force power, ability, feat, or item. Graphics range from adequate to exceptional. Building and character models are not impressive--about what you get in GTA 3. Lightsaber graphics and environmental effects (like waving grass, clouds, and weather) bring the world to life. Battles are just brilliant, with characters pumping out blaster fire at Jedi who dash, dodge, and even deflect the bolts back toward their assailants. Complete with sounds straight out of the movies, the thrilling combat is pure Star Wars. All in all, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a masterpiece of Star Wars gaming. The pacing, balance of action and dialogue, clever puzzles and quests, and loving attention to detail have set the bar very high for role-playing games in general and Star Wars games in particular. Consider this a must-have game.--Mike Fehlauer Pros: - Captivating storyline
- Clever dialogue
- Star Wars feel
- True story and dialogue support for either Light Side or Dark Side play
- Brilliant combat graphics
- Fascinating characters (the loyal--and homicidal--droid HK-47 is truly unique)
Cons: - Occasional bugs in dialogue, movie playback
- Cannot transfer equipped gear between characters while on your ship
Customer Reviews I Love This Game (2009-01-12) all i'm going to say is that this is the best star wars game EVER!!!! and i'm not a role playing game person. anybody can get into this game.
One of the best games I've ever played (2008-12-21) I love a good rpg and this one has all my favorite elements of what makes one great. As a bonus it also is Star Wars themed, something I also love, and features some of John Williams awesome theme music. This was my favorite game until I played Mass effect, also by Bioware, but it remains a strong second. I simply love this game. It has one of the best and most immersive storylines I've ever seen in a game. There are plot twists and unexpected developments throughout the game. You have numerous choices to make, and some of the choices effect the outcome of the game. There are a large number of quests, including many optional ones and and you may choose to take a good or evil path or something in between. There are numerous well developed characters who can join your party, each with their own personality. They may help or hinder you, during quests or even leave the party or turn on you depending on your actions. You have influence with the characters and it depends largely on your action and your choices. The storyline is simply excellent, the sound effects and graphics are excellent, music is excellent, and the buildings/scenarios are unique and diverse. The endings are excellent and one of the best I've ever seen in a game. I really enjoyed playing this game. The only cons I think of is the combat, which I didn't mind because this is an rpg first. The combat is automatic and you don't do much except direct your characters to use certain abilities or weapons or to attack certain foes. Otherwise they simply fight automatically. Again this didn't bother me at all, but 1st person shooter fans, might have issue with this.
Sorry, I think this is one of the WORST Star Wars games (2008-10-15) I picked this game up a few months back. I got it because I just got through with Mass Effect and loved that game. Well the folks who did Mass Effect for the most part also had a hand in making this Star Wars game, Knights of the Old Republic. I'll make this short, because I think some people need to know just how flipping boring this game is. The dialogue is okay. You have to read it, and there is no actual speach. I can live with that, especially since this game did come out a few years back. However, the action sequences are left the game found wanting. You press a button, and watch your characters do all the work. "Wow. That's it?!" Is what I thought to myself. I'm not much of an RPG guy, but when I hear the words "ACTION" and "FUN TO PLAY" associated with it, I tend to think their might be some challenging action scenes to go along with a game with story line. You know, something like Deus Ex, or Mass Effect. Heck, even the Final Fantasy guys get it right year after year. I say all of that, so I don't get people flaming me saying I just don't like RPGs. I do like RPGs, just the good ones. I felt like I was being spoon fed everything to continue on with the game. It wasn't challenging at all. I had to quit after playing this game for about an hour. I kept telling myself it will get better, and it never did. Sorry folks, but Star Wars games like the X-Wing/Tie Fighter series, Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, and even the Rebel Assault games were better than this crap. You want a good RPG from Bioware? Play Mass Effect. You want a good RPG period? Play Lost Odyssey, or Diablo, or Titan's Quest, or the Elder Scrolls series, or the Fallout series, or Final Fantasy. Just not this game.
This is but a taste of the Dark Side... (2008-10-09) Let me preface this by saying this game is awesome! So why four stars? Mostly because of some systemic issues that I came across and one thematic reason that didn't fit well with me. Other than that this game is simply brilliant. Taking Star Wars into the realm of role playing was obviously a great idea. The tabletop game looks fun as it is, but to branch into the realm of video games, I suspect, is just as fun. I've played Star Wars games on and off since "Dark Forces II" came out years ago, but I wouldn't say I'm an absolutely die hard fan of them. However, I'm hoping "Knights of the Old Republic" will spawn a long running string of similarly designed Role Playing games! RPG's are probably my favorite format for video games (I still haven't decided if I really like them more than FPS or if they simply tie). The game that really got me into RPG's was Diablo and it's because it didn't use the very common turn based system that was used in games like Final Fantasy. Now a huge amount of RPG's released over the years have followed this kind of methodology in copying the fast paced Diablo format where the user gets to hack away at enemies in a button mashing frenzy. "Knights of the Old Republic" uses more of a turn based combat system. Which I really didn't think I would like at first, but I didn't mind it to much in this one. It gives you the time you need to setup your attacks and choose force powers if you want to use them in combat. Some people might find this boring because you don't have to really physically participate in the combat, instead simply watch your character execute the moves, but I still managed to enjoy my time in this game. At least I get to manually control where my character goes and whom I interact with. I personally found the game play enjoyable. Another major plus for this game is that you definitely get your moneys worth! I logged nearly 60 hours in my process of completing this game and you can play the game multiple ways! Basically if you play it as a Dark Side character you get different options than you would a Light Side character, and each side has different endings. This at least makes it worthwhile to play through the game twice logging approximately 120 hours of game play in all! This, of course, is provided it doesn't go faster the second time around... which it probably will take less time. Anyway, I played through the game as Dark Side and this is where my initial hang-up came in. Based on the movies and other things I've read in the Star Wars universe I just didn't feel like they really captured the ethos of the Dark Side. In this game you had to do randomly cruel actions in order to earn Dark Side points and I really didn't like that. While the Dark Side is unforgiving and cruel, I don't feel it's a chaotic cruelty. It's more of a measured cruelty that's motivated by a need for power. Arbitrary cruelty doesn't really have much of a result in this game, you don't gain anything from it (other than Dark Side points) and I just think that doesn't work towards the true Dark Side motivations. Now I've played both "Knights of the Old Republic" games and I really liked two better in this regard. I think it captured the Dark Side much more correctly. Whereas in this one it's very difficult to actually play as a Dark Side character most of the time. In some situations I didn't have any option, but to give an answer that yielded me Light Side points and this just seemed stupid to me because my character was so heavily weighted to the Dark Side at that time. Not to mention one of the major ways you earn Dark Side points is by being mean to your own team, this just seemed foolish. If you were really Dark Side you wouldn't be blatantly mean to the team you were leading, you would coax them into wanting more power or vengeance etc. This doesn't come into play until the second half. The only time I really felt like I was truly playing a Dark Side character was when the big plot twist was revealed, after that I got very heavily into the story line and moved this game up a notch in my rating scale. (Very very VERY awesome plot twist by the way!) The second issue I had with the game was how heavily laden the game was with glitches. Now I tried playing through it on my Xbox 360, so you'd think the game would actually process smoother, not so at all. It is especially jumpy during talking sequences between characters and it has an extremely difficult time processing a battle with a large amount of enemies. This becomes detrimental in the later battles on the Star Forge where you have to fight through so many Sith that the system can barely process all the blaster fire and light saber duels! Now, I also tried playing this game on my original Xbox a long time ago and basically what happened there is it had an in game error and crashed the whole system. My original Xbox never worked again and I had to purchase a new one, thus I played this on the 360 to hopefully avoid that. Well, the glitches are still rife throughout my game play, but at least it didn't destroy my Xbox this time. (Please note: The game more than likely didn't destroy my original Xbox, but probably had more to do with its age and the amount of use it had received over the years. I just have a natural fear now that it happened!) Overall this is an incredibly good game. It's pretty well thought out and probably a superb game if you play as a Light Side character, because the story-line probably has a much better flow. You visit multiple worlds throughout this game and each world is simply HUGE. It's one of the reasons it takes so long to play the game, especially if you like to play a game thoroughly like me (i.e. making sure every inch of a map is shown). Again, the major flaw, to me, aside from the programming glitches, was the Dark Side story line is lacking. Anyway, I think the processing would have been superior on a PC at this point. I would definitely list this as one of my must play RPG's, because despite it's flaws it really is that fun and if you're a die hard Star Wars fan, I doubt you'll be disappointed.
Best Star Wars game, Best RPG of the last 5 years (2008-09-25) Since I got this game I've beaten it 3 times. There's a reason this game won so many awards. It's amazing and if your a star wars fan and haven't played it already your missing out. This game is nearly perfect. Amazing story with one of the best twists ever. Amazing characters. Just an amazing star wars experience that has great replay value.

Symphony in Vienna - anniversary
.jpg) One year has passed already since the best concert of my life. This intimate beautiful concert is everything I wanted from Sarah Brightman. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
These days, me and other European fans of Sarah, we are waiting to find out the dates for Sarah`s Symphony tour in Europe. It seems the tour is not coming here until later this year. At first I was very anxious to see it, but now I know I will have patience. I have already seen videos from the tour and heard the songs, I have seen most of the dresses that Sarah wears on this tour, and yes - I can wait for this. It will happen some day in Europe as well. I realized that the Vienna concert was much superior in its quality, in things that are important to me.

I remember when I got the ticket for the concert. It was too much excitement to handle. Finally, I was going to see and hear Sarah Brightman. At that time, her album Symphony was still not out so most of the song were new and unheard. It was so exciting to be a part of this premiere concert, I am so thankful that I had this opportunity.

It was very cold in the cathedral, Sarah must have been cold. I waited for a long time outside of the cathedral and then some more time inside. I was very impatient for the concert to begin. While we were waiting, Siewmay was taking photos of the audience.

Throughout the concert Sarah wore three really beautiful dresses, much more elegant than those that she wears on her tours. She was the shining spot in the cathedral. Her voice was better than ever, perfect! They had to record two songs twice: Canto della terra and Time to say goodbye. I was hoping they would to have to do many rerecordings so I could listen to that beautiful voice all night long.

Because this concert was held in a cathedral it wasn`t much of a surprise to hear Ave Maria and Pie Jesu - I knew we would hear those two. And Time to say goodbye, which is never left out. But I never ever expected to hear the full song Phantom of the opera. This performance was absolutely breathtaking and surprising, I`d say fucking brilliant! Nothing can top that view of Sarah with Chris Thompson high in the cathedral singing and screaming their hearts out!

We have had pleasure not only to listen to the angel of music, but also three wonderful guests. Fernando Lima and Chris Thompson were both great, but Alessandro Safina was my favorite, I loved his voice. The song Sarai qui is so much better as a duet than it would be as a solo version. When the song began the two of them passed my by and sang right there the first part of the song. I love duets and this was a very special moment. Alessandro was great duet partner for Canto della terra as well and luckily they had to redo that song.

Moving on to..Storia d`amore, my favorite song on the album Symphony, along with Fleurs du mal. This song is really beautiful, so tender and has deep emotions within. I love the Italian language in songs. The melody is also wonderful and the whole song moves me deeply. When I first heard the title of the song I thought it would be a remake of Love story. But it turned out so much better.

My favorite older albums of Sarah`s are Eden and La Luna. Those albums have that same high quality and amazing selection of songs. That is why I love Sarah Brightman. Those two albums are so perfect. Songs like Eden, So many things, Anytime, anywhere, This love, Winter in July, Here with me, Un jour il viendra, Deliver me, Tú, Il mio cuore va, Figlio perduto..these are some of my favorite songs.

The new album Symphony might not be themed like Eden and Luna are, but the selection of the songs is again perfect. There is not a single song that I don`t like. So now, this album is with Eden and Luna, among my favorites. I remember when I heard Attesa for the first time in Stephansdom cathedral. I knew it, this is IT!!!!! Eden and Luna quality is back! Sarah is back!!!!!!!! Again the beautiful voice, melody, italian lyrics, deep meaning of the song, and the heavenly ending of the song. Wow! Wow! Sarah!!! You did it again!!!

Running is such a spectacular song, only Sarah and Frank Peterson come out with such songs. Part hymn and part uplifting song, and the screaming..I am in heaven when I hear this. Fleurs du mal also has that screaming at the beginning and I love it. On the concert Sarah didn`t scream at the beginning of Fleurs du mal, she just walked up to the middle of the church with her red dress spread. I will never forget this moment, she passed my by and stopped a few feet away to sing. That is how I saw Sarah for the first time and it was pretty impressive. And the lights were being turned on and off quickly so it was dramatic and exciting. My heart kept racing. Sarah meant to run at the beginning from the back of the cathedral for the introduction of the song, but she didn`t do it because the pavement was slippery and she fell down during the preparations. This is how I saw Sarah for the first time, how could I not be amazed and under such strong impression? :-) Just look at this!

Some of the song from the album Symphony were already released before (for a movie, TV series, another concert and sports event), but it was fantastic hearing them live. When Sarah and Fernando sang Pasión, during the lyrics "Nunca te faltará alguien en quien confiar.." I said to myself: "I need to remember this feeling forever, this is such perfection!!!!".

I have recently rewatched other recordings of Sarah`s concerts from her previous tours and I have concluded that Symphony in Vienna is the best looking concert of all. The interior of Stephansdom cathedral was beautiful location for the concert, and it was lit very fascinating; every detail of architecture was pointed out by lighting, sculptures and paintings came to life. There were no distracting dancers or projections of images. It was only Sarah (and guest singers) in her beauty and her stunning strong voice. It was so elegant, it was heaven. I knew I will remember that night forever. The intimate concert of Sarah Brightman in which she presented her beautiful new songs and sang some of her classics. That is all I need..

Luckily, I have the DVD and live CD of this concert (thanks to Daniel) so I can relive the night over and over again. Every time I watch it (or listen to it) I am back in heaven, right there in the cathedral listening to the angel of music. When watching the DVD, my heartbeat still races when I see Fleurs du Mal and Phantom of the opera. This was absolutely breathtaking! It was one year ago, on January 16, 2008., but it will stay forever in me. Thank you, Sarah!

REBEL!!
How long will it take for us as people to bring about peace. We have the ability and the knowledge and means to end world violence war poverty. It only Takes a lil effort from a small group of people. 1 person can ask another person two more join in and so forth and so on. If you have 100 people you can affect a thousand simply by begging for peace and understanding. If you have 1000 people you can turn 10 thousand and so on. If you have ten thousand people you can change the world through free media on the Internet.
I do not see why all of most people are accustomed to ignoring the problems at hand. The Coming Wars and Economic Crises, and Poverty in other country caused by our corporations and governments.
We have the technology for free clean energy. We have had it for years. We have the the knowledge to self sustain an entire planet with almost no emissions or toxins with out poverty with out war.. We have the awareness to stop violence.. A study showed that mediation in large numbers can reduce crime rate by a percentage that is easily graphed. The more people the higher the percentages.
Love peace and compassion our new weapons meditate daily seek out peaceful rebellion against your government stop buying oil and there new products. Just to fit in or because its popular or you need it. You only need food shelter water to survive.
Since less then 10% of the worlds population controls the majority of resources and wealth. Its not hard to look out and see the suffering caused. Do not ignore it because you are part of it everything you buy helps this suffering. A government that lies to you you is like a small child that continuously steals a cookie but you ignore him rather then punishing him. People should not fear there government.
Its time to Rebel. Peaceful Rebellion And Protest Government Corporation And The Central, National and World Banks.
Our Economic Crisis Dictates Action Which we as people simply ignore and discuss. It does not matter which government is on top its a distraction from the Economic Crash .. Act Now protest Gather Numbers Do something.. A World War is coming. We the free vs our enslaving masters. Who when the system crashes will stranglehold every resources and force us to work for them. Its not hard to see they have done this over the couple hundred or so years with money. Soon it will become force of gun power rather then money. We could and should have been free thinking people With money at its Original value however. WE are in an impossible dept to the World and National Banks We owe all the money we borrowed plus interest. Which makes the monetary system useless. And Flawed.
Its impossible to be out of dept and thus you keep working away paying Taxes to a government that made the money at a deficit to the banks on purpose so you keep working.
REBEL before its to late. Rebel in a peaceful but loud way. When the Economic Crash comes. Would you rather be running away from the tanks or stopping them before they start.
One world should put fire in your heart REBEL! They don't care about you.. The government only thinks of you as a slave. Be Free and Rebel.. Make your own destiny.
